OBJECTIVES
The Festival aims to promote the student film and develop a greater reflection about the genre, trying to broaden the interchange between the Brazilian and International production. The International Competition will be composed of the most representative student films produced up to two years before the Festival.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
a. maximum running time: less than 30 minutes.
b. films with final exhibition copies in 35mm, 16mm, DVCAM NTSC, MiniDV NTSC or DVD.
c. films that have been produced up to two years before the Festival.
RULES FOR ENTRY
a. There is no entry fee.
b. The candidate should fully fill out the online entry form at www.fbcu.com.br and send a DVD screener of the film to the Festival office.
c. All transport costs of DVD screeners are on the sender's behalf. Do not send entries by TNT courier.
d. Transport costs for returning 35mm/16mm/DVCAM/MiniDV exhibition copies will be borne by the Festival, but their submission to Rio de Janeiro/Brazil is the responsibility of the producer/school.
e. All DVD sent for selection will become part of the Festival archives, on the understanding that they will be used strictly for cultural purposes with no commercial ends and only with the producers' consent.
f. Deadline for Entries: all entry forms, requests for information and DVD should be sent to the Festival address by May 15th, 2009.
g. Notice of Shipment: applicants should inform the Festival the date their entries were mailed and the shipping method used, including airway bills and registration or tracking numbers, as well as the contact information of the person responsible for the entry.
h. Internet: Unless otherwise requested, all information contained on the entry form will be made public on the official Festival website: www.fbcu.com.br. With the producer's authorisation, we will place a 30 second extract or preview of the film on the Festival website.
FILM SELECTION
a. The list of the selected films will be officially announced by June 5th, 2009.
c. The prints of selected films should reach the Festival offices by July 25th. Films must be available for Festival screening on 35mm, 16mm, DVCAM NTSC, MiniDV NTSC or DVD.
d. Shipping procedures: whenever possible films should be sent to the Festival via the diplomatic services of the country of origin. If this option is not available, we request that films be sent directly by the producers/schools. Do not send the films by airfreight or TNT courier. The packages should be clearly marked "NO COMMERCIAL VALUE, FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY" and it should be declared a maximum value of US$2 (two US Dollars) for customs purposes. The organisers of the Festival will not be responsible for films shipped by any other method and/or with any other declared value for customs purposes.
e. Applicants should inform the Festival regarding shipment of the films - date sent, form of transport, AWB numbers etc.
f. Films will be returned within two weeks of the end of the Festival unless some other prior arrangement has been made. The Festival is responsible for the shipping costs of returning the 35mm, 16mm, DVCAM NTSC and MiniDV NTSC exhibition copies.
g. We will be offering one week of hotel accommodation in a double room for one representative of each of the selected films during the Festival.
AWARDS
The International Jury of the Brazilian Student Film Festival will grant the following awards for the participating films of the competition:
- Artistic Contribution Award
- Cultural Expression Award
- Film Language Research Award
- Narrative Construction Award
- Poetic Expression Award
- Portrait of the National Reality Award
- Technical Contribution Award
There will also be an Audience Award, decided by the vote of the public attending the Festival.
