At night, it's raining outside. Mom, Dad and Ji-Soo are watching TV with anxious. The news report the fire at the kindergarten, where the little daughter Ji-Hye goes to. Her name is on the dead list. Alicia, an elderly woman, decides to retire to an isolated environment to start a new life with her contemporaries. There, her new companions welcome her dearly. Essa abundância de imagens, impressões, opiniões e idéias que o assoberbam diariamente o levarão a se perguntar um monte de questões. E diversas vezes ele chegará à situação onde se questionará seu sentido no mundo. Para isso, ele normalmente tem doze minutos e meio entre sua ida à cama e adormecer...

The average member of our society is male, German, 38 years of age and gets up at 8.15 am. During this quite normal day he will go on doing quite normal things like brushing his teeth, going to work, shopping, mowing the lawn, watching television and finally going to bed again. And though his world may be perfectly regulated in terms of time and space, he might feel somewhat lost in life. This overflow of images, impressions, opinions, ideas which overwhelm him daily, will lead him to ask himself a lot of questions. And several times he will come to the point where he will wonder just for which purpose he is part of the world. To do this, he generally has twelve minutes and a half between his going to bed and falling asleep…

O filme narra uma estória de motivação pessoal sobre amor e arte, usando citações como ‘Jung-Hoon, que vai a Busan, ainda tem sentimentos para ninguém além de Jun-Ah’, ‘Gi-Hyun Gwak, trabalhador de colarinho branco, balança a bandeira Americana, mas a Embaixada dos EUA não faz nada a respeito’, ‘A Cinemateca está fechada mas a fé de Sora e HanBat apenas começou’. Abençoai aqueles de luto, pois eles serão confortados.

The film narrates a story of personal motives of love and art using quotations such as ‘Jung-Hoon, who goes to Busan, still has emotions left but none for Jun-Ah,’ ‘white-collar worker Gi-Hyun Gwak waves the Stars and Stripes but the American embassy does not say anything about it,’ ‘Cinematheque is closed but Sora and HanBat’s faith has just begun,’ . Mas o Nirvana é apenas para aqueles que durante suas vidas conseguiram construir uma casa, ter um filho e plantar uma árvore. Achando que prefere ficar no Nirvana por causa da mulher, John faz o máximo para arrancar de sua memória os eventos certos…

A famous rock guitarist named John dies on stage and wakes up in Nirvana. Finding himself in a limbo populated by strange creatures and occurrences, he plays on his electric guitar – and manages to attract a woman. But Nirvana is only for those who during their lives managed to build a house, have a child and plant a tree. Thinking that he’d rather like to stay in Nirvana because of the woman, John does his best to produce all the right events from his memory…

Lisa está sozinha; ela está a ponto de passar mais uma noite em seu antigo apartamento. Rom se perde de Hakim e entra no universo de Lisa. E ele começa a ter visões…

Rom and Hakim run through long corridors dilapidated in an old abandoned building. They thought of spending one night in the lapse of memory. Lisa is alone; she’s on the point of spending a new night in her old apartment. Rom loses Hakim and enters the universe of Lisa. And he starts to have visions…

Na sociedade atual, onde câmeras digitais são o padrão, ficou extremamente difícil continuar a usar formatos em 8mm. Eu pretendi dar grande significado ao filme 8mm em si, em oposição às imagens.

In today’s society where digital video cameras are standard it has become extremely difficult to continue using 8mm formats. I intended to give great meaning to the 8mm film itself, rather than the footage.
